Zanele Muholi
Tate Modern
Zanele Muholi was due to have their first major solo exhibition in the UK at Tate Modern in 2020. Unfortunately due to the pandemic the exhibition was only open for three weeks. However their show returned in June 2024 and I’m pleased to see that the campaign I devised is now running.
Muholi is a Black, queer, groundbreaking, contemporary artist from South Africa and so it was crucial that we partnered with a media partner who could introduce their work to a diverse range of culturally engaged UK audiences. Therefore Dazed were the perfect media partner for this show and I enjoyed my involvement in pitching and securing this in-kind partnership which will have brought Muholi’s work to new, young, culturally engaged audiences.
As both the marketing manager and a chair of Tate's LGBTQIA+ network, I worked alongside colleagues to implement a partnership with UK Black Pride, with a wide range of both digital and in-gallery events planned for the local QTPOC community.
As a co-chair of the LGBTQIA+ network I also consulted on the interpretation and glossary for the exhibition.
